Student Dress Code

DRESS AND GROOMING

The district’s dress code is established to teach grooming and hygiene, prevent disruption, and minimize safety hazards. Student dress and grooming should not be suggestive, indecent, or detract from the classroom environment.

  • Hats are not allowed. The term “hats” includes: caps, visors, bandanas, scarves, beanies, and similar apparel. No sunglasses will be worn during the school day.
  • Jackets, sweaters, sweatshirts, etc. with hoods will be allowed. However, hoods must remain off the head during the school day.
  • Students are not allowed to wear or carry gang paraphernalia or make gestures that symbolize gang membership.

If the principal determines that a student’s grooming or clothing violates the school’s dress code, the student will be given an opportunity to correct the problem at school.

If not corrected, the student may be assigned to in-school suspension for the remainder of the day, until the problem is corrected, or until the parent or designee brings an acceptable change of clothing to the school.

Repeated offenses may result in more serious disciplinary action in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct. Students will be allowed to wear their extra-curricular uniform during the school day without modifications on the day of their scheduled event/activity.
